    Anthony Gomes

    Doors open @ 6:30 show begins @ 8:00pm

eventAnthonyGomesAnthony Gomes has been creating virtuosic, burning blues since his recorded debut in 1998. 12 releases and numerous awards and ecstatic accolades later, Gomes shows no signs of slowing down with his latest musical offering being his most successful to date. The aptly-named, riff-laden Electric Field Holler has received highly acclaimed recognition; reaching #1 on both Roots Music Report's Blues Rock Chart and ReverbNation’s Global Blues Chart as well as earning several nominations for Blues Rock Album of the Year.

The Toronto singer/songwriter/guitarist is propelling blues rock into the contemporary music culture with his unapologetic approach to reinventing the genre in relevant and fresh ways. “The blues is old, but not tired” said Anthony, adding: “It speaks as truthfully today, and for this generation, as it ever has.” Blues Music Magazine writes, "the formidable guitar chops and authentic singing place him in the forefront of modern blues." This, along with his high-energy shows and dynamic stage presence, make him one of the top draws on the Rock/Blues circuit today. And the facts speak for themselves. Gomes has performed in 17 countries and has shared the stage with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Robert Plant, Joe Bonamassa, Heart, Jonny Lang, Sammy Hagar, 38 Special, Robert Cray and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Gomes’ instinctive mastery of his craft is matched by his knowledge of and dedication to blues history. He is an award winning blues history scholar, earning the University of Toronto’s C.P. Stacey Prize for the highest overall academic grade point average by a history student. Anthony also completed his master’s degree thesis on the racial and cultural evolution of blues music, graduating with high distinction. In 2014, his thesis was published and nominated for the Best Blues Book of the Year by Blues 411.

    Hamilton Loomis

    Doors open @ 5:30 show begins @ 6:30pm

    EventHammaltonLoomis

This is an early Wednesday show! Doors open at 5:30. All tickets for this show will be sold at the door for $10.

Hamilton Loomis does indeed go back to basics on his new album "BASICS", which is his most personal and emotional effort to date. Gone are the double entendres for which Loomis is known; this time, his lyrics are direct, personal, and often autobiographical.

The “basics” theme runs through the entire CD, in its lyrics (“Prayer,” “Cloudy Day”), single-chord progressions (“Sugar Baby," "Looking Into a Dream”), simple melodies (“Come and Get Me”), and stripped-down instrumentation of guitar, bass and drums (“Reason," "Getting So Big”). Still, Loomis’s trademark deep-grooved funk and soulful blues-rock is definitely present.

“I wanted this record to be more stripped-down. Even the CD jacket is black and white and pretty basic itself," he says of the disc, which features songwriting collaborations with Grammy-award winning songwriter/ producer/bassist Tommy Sims, co-writer of Eric Clapton's “Change the World."

Tas Cru and The Tortured Souls

    Doors open @ 6:30 show begins @ 8:00pm

EventTasCruRaucous, rowdy, gentle, sweet, eccentric, quirky, and outright irreverent are all words that fittingly describe Tas Cru's songs and testify to his reputation as a one of the most unique of bluesmen plying his trade today. It’s not for nothing that Cru has received wide praise for his songwriting. As Downbeat magazine notes, "His songs are blues poetry - crafted with rare verbal flair and his ability to cast a memorable hook is magical!" Bruce Iglauer, founder and president of Alligator Records calls Cru “a rare, real writer.” Live, these songs are performed with power and passion as observed by Living Blues magazine, "The vivacity and sheer joy with which Cru plays is intoxicating!"

It has been featured as a BB King's Bluesville "Pick to Click" on Sirius"XM Radio and made its way on to the highly respected Living Blues Chart. It has been at or near the top of the Roots Music Report's Contemporary Blues Chart for most of 2017. Simmered & Stewed is eleven songs flavored in most part by resonator, cigar box and acoustic guitar. The album features harmonica, honky-tonk piano, Hammond B3 organ ans rich, backing vocals. It is is a worthy follow up to Cru's 2015 album, "You Keep the Money.” - the hottest debuting blues album of that year, almost all year long residing at or near the very top of every major blues chart. It ended up the #3 blues album of 2015 right behind Buddy Guy a #2 with Shemekia Copeland at #4. Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal

    Doors open @ 6:30 show begins @ 8:00pm

EventJoshHoyerJosh Hoyer & Soul Colossal's combination of soul, funk and R&B is in a word, electric. Best displayed in their high-energy live show, the blend of Hoyer's honest lyrics and his soulful (sometimes in-your-face) vocals merge with his top-notch band to create an undeniable chemistry.

The magic of their live show caught the attention of producer Ken Coomer (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo), who joined with the band to record their third full-length album. Their most ambitious project to date, Running From Love, was recorded at Nashville's historic Sound Emporium, and once again features Hoyer's trademark vocals and the band's signature groove. The album was released on April 8, 2016, on Silver Street Records, and is available on vinyl, CD, and digital formats.

Hoyer formed Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal in 2012 in famed blues town Lincoln, Nebraska. The award-winning five-piece band includes some of the area's most revered and accomplished musicians. Joining Hoyer (keyboards/vocals) is Mike Dee (sax), Mike Keeling (bass), Benjamin Kushner (guitar), and Larell Ware (drums). Inspired by the sounds of Stax, Motown, Muscle Shoals, New Orleans, Philly and San Francisco, the band continuously crosses musical boundaries both in style and era, and joins forces each show with a common goal - to have the crowd dancing so much they forget even their smallest troubles.

The hard working band completed several national tours in 2015 and 2016, playing more than 150 shows in 32 states each year, including opening for George Clinton, Charles Bradley, Booker T Jones, and Muscle Shoals Revue. Their year-round tour schedule took them from coast to coast, including several major summer music festivals. The band's fevered pace continues in 2017, with Hoyer appearing as a contestant on Season 12 of the hit TV music show The Voice, a European tour, a live album release, numerous festival appearances, and a new EP in the works.

"If James Brown and Otis Redding had a love child, it would be Josh Hoyer. The Lincoln, Nebraska, soul shouter, and his band of merry soulsters, Soul Colossal, deliver a sound so big, so funky, so wring-the-sweat-out-of-you energetic that it reaches through the speakers and shakes you until you start moving to its groove." - No Depression

    Danielle Nicole

    Doors open @ 5:30 show begins @ 6:30pm

EventDanielleNicoleThis is an early Wednesday show! Doors open at 5:30.
Founding member, lead singer, and bass player of Kansas City blues-rock band Trampled Under Foot, Danielle Nicole stepped out on her own in 2015 with her debut album “Wolf Den.” In 2018, Nicole returns with a follow-up release via Concord Records.

"I grew up playing the blues, and the blues is still a big part of what I do. But now I'm reaching out more and trying different things. It still sounds like me, but I'm stretching out a lot more than I have previously."

Nicole's distinctive, inventive bass work—which resulted in her becoming the first woman to win the Blues Foundation's 2014 Blues Music Award for Best Instrumentalist, Bass—is the product of years of intensive roadwork. Although she had no experience with the instrument when she became Trampled Under Foot's bassist, now she can't imagine life without it.

"When I started doing my solo thing," she continues, "someone asked me if I was gonna hire a bass player. No, of course not! I originally picked up the bass to keep Trampled Under Foot a family band, but I really fell in love with it. It was a huge challenge, and it still is. But I really love being part of the groove and getting to sing on top of that. I had learned some stuff on acoustic guitar before I started playing bass, but I never really felt connected to it the way I do with the bass. It's empowering, walking onto a stage full of grown men who can play their asses off, and it's 'OK, I'm gonna play this bass, we're gonna do this, and it's gonna rock.'"

Rounding out her band are longtime Danielle Nicole Band guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Brandon Miller, and drummer Rodd Bland, son of blues legend Bobby “Blue” Bland, who earned his chops playing in his dad’s band and later with BB King.

"I think that it's a good time for the kind of thing I'm doing," she states. "From my years of playing blues festivals, I've seen that younger and younger audiences are getting into the blues. I think that people want to hear authentic music again."

    Kaopectones

    Doors open @ 6:30 show begins @ 8:00pm

eventKaopectonesThe Kaopectones are Kansas City's most unique "Rock" musical offering. Four veteran players reproducing timeless music from 4 decades of Rock. And all without the use of prerecorded or sequenced backing tracks, Auto-Tune, or other gadgets and tricks designed to fool the listener. Real music played by real people. The way it is supposed to be.

Make no mistake, The Kaopectones are, first and foremost, a "Rock" band. They chose the "Rock" designation, as it encompasses much more than the traditional sub genre labels like "Rock and Roll", "Classsic Rock", "Pop Rock" or "Progressive Rock". The Kaopectones run the entire spectrum, stylistically, while never forgetting that the "Rock" attitude and approach are what drives all of the music they play. Loud and proud, with the edge and drive necessary to put the music across to the listener in the manner envisioned by the original artists.

    Chris Duarte

    Doors open @ 5:30 show begins @ 6:30pm

EventChrisDuarteTo classify Chris Duarte simply as a Blues Man is an understatement.  In his own words, “rockin’ blues” or ”punk blues” describes him best.  “Ferocious blues” also fits.  Legend has it that Chris will play so hard that his fingers bleed in a set.  The legend is true.  Photos attest.

Chris Duarte is a road warrior playing more than 150 dates a year.  As well, Chris has headlined major festivals and clubs throughout the US, Canada and Europe.

Chris is a savant, a sorcerer of tone, a master at channeling the spirits and sounds of great musicians of our past, while remaining completely recognizable in his own sound.  He has shared his stage with many of the greatest musicians of our time as well as the multitude of “young lions” and local musicians he meets on the road.  From his many years as a side man in Austin, he easily changes roles from front to side, graciously allowing all to share the conversation of the jam.

Chris Duarte’s music is ever changing.  In many interviews, he has said “Music must evolve.”  His own early offerings often become magical journeys into changing tempo and jazzy interludes before returning to their core.  With such a vast catalog of recordings, there are no two shows alike.  Every set list is different, and each song may be offered distinctly, based on the feel of a show and the audience.  For those reasons, loyal fans often return to a Chris Duarte show again and again, and always walk away awed and satisfied to have witnessed such a legendary, but humble guitarist.
