    The Cate Brothers

    Doors open @ 6:30 show begins @ 8pm

WebsiteCateBrothersArkansas-based Earl and Ernie Cate were prolific songwriters and singers who blended the blues with elements of rock & roll, country and rockabilly. Pianist/vocalist Ernie and guitarist/vocalist Earl signed to Asylum Records in 1975; their self-titled debut, issued shortly after, included appearances by Donald "Duck" Dunn, Steve Cropper, former Band drummer Levon Helm, and former Eagle and Poco member Timothy B. Schmidt. They followed up their debut in 1976 with In One Eye and Out the Other, trailed in 1977 by The Cate Brothers Band. Spurred by the success of the single "Union Man," 1979's Fire on the Tracks reached number 24 on the album rock charts in 1976.

Despite a dearth of recordings through the 1980s, the band remained a popular touring act in Tennessee, Arkansas and other strongholds of country rock and blues around the South. In the early '80s, Earl and Ernie joined Helm and others to form a reconstructed version of the Band, which by that point had lost guitarist Robbie Robertson; aside from touring with Helm, they also collaborated with blues singer Maria Muldaur. The Cate Brothers continued recording into the 1990s; in 1995, they issued Radioland, a unique hybrid of pop-oriented blues-rock, Stax-era soul-blues and country-rock on which they were joined by former John Mayall blues guitar phenom Coco Montoya. A new album, Play by the Rules, was released in 2004. ~ Richard Skelly, Rovi

    Toronzo Cannon

    Doors open @ 6:30 show begins @ 8pm

WebsiteToronzoCannonThroughout the history of Chicago blues, the intensely competitive local club scene has served as a proving ground, where only the best musicians rise to the top. Iconic blues artists from Muddy Waters to Howlin’ Wolf to Koko Taylor to Hound Dog Taylor to Luther Allison all paid their dues in the Chicago blues bars before making their mark on the world. The same holds true today, as newcomers look to living legends like Buddy Guy, Eddy Clearwater and Lil’ Ed Williams for inspiration in taking their music from Chicago to fans across the globe. Now, Chicago-born-and-raised blues guitarist /vocalist/ songwriter Toronzo Cannon is ready to write his own story as he claims his place as one of the city’s most popular and innovative blues.

    Kaopectones

    Doors open @ 6:30 show begins @ 8pm

WebsiteKaopectonesThe Kaopectones are Kansas City's most unique "Rock" musical offering. Four veteran players reproducing timeless music from 4 decades of Rock. And all without the use of prerecorded or sequenced backing tracks, Auto-Tune, or other gadgets and tricks designed to fool the listener. Real music played by real people. The way it is supposed to be.

Make no mistake, The Kaopectones are, first and foremost, a "Rock" band. They chose the "Rock" designation, as it encompasses much more than the traditional sub genre labels like "Rock and Roll", "Classsic Rock", "Pop Rock" or "Progressive Rock". The Kaopectones run the entire spectrum, stylistically, while never forgetting that the "Rock" attitude and approach are what drives all of the music they play. Loud and proud, with the edge and drive necessary to put the music across to the listener in the manner envisioned by the original artists.

    Doors open @ 6:30 show begins @ 8pm

WebsiteSlamAllenSlam Allen has been entertaining with his unique blend of soul and blues for over twenty years. Playing the famous Chitlin' Circuit as well as performing around the world, Allen's music and enthusiasm has been shared with thousands of people. For the past five years he has played an important role in the legendary James Cotton Band. "It's one of the highlights and privileges of my life to play with Cotton" says Allen, "He is one of the last living legends, and there's so much history there. Cotton was directly connected to Muddy Waters -- who was a major factor in the blues world as well as being one of my all time favorites. Playing with Cotton is such a great experience for me and there are things you can learn from him that you can't learn from any school. It's a great honor." Music is in Allen's blood -- he got his start from his father and uncles who were known as the Allen Brothers Band. Allen carries on the family legacy wherever he goes. His music runs deep. "When I play," says Allen, "People who may have never heard of me leave the show with a feeling like that we're old friends or family." From B.B. King to Otis Redding. Slam has a way of making you feel the Soul of the Music. Sometime you cannot tell if he is doing one of his oringinals or a old blues or soul cover cause he makes all the music his own.

The Solohogs began playing in 1994 in Topeka. Founding members Michael Stratton (guitar) and Lew Spring (bass) began as an acoustic duo inspired by the likes of Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal. 1995 saw Les Goering (harmonica, guitar) and Mark Paquette (drums) join the band. They ramped up the electric gear and with the line-up complete they began playing regularly in the Midwest and built a following due to there brand of energetic blues and rock with strong harmony vocals. They continued as weekend warriors for twelve years and then split to pursue other projects but continued to re-unite for "special" shows. 20 years later the band is fully re-united and the energy is at its highest level ever! "When Pigs Fly" was recorded live at TPAC in 2001 and is the only recording to date but more projects are in the works. "We still get out the hollow bodies and return to our roots at every show." Selwyn Birchwood

    Doors open @ 6:30 show begins @ 8pm

WebsiteSelwynBirchwoodSelwyn Birchwood, Floridas rising young blues fireball, is a guitar and lap-steel-playing bundle of pure energy. He delivers his original songs with a revival tent preachers fervor and a natural storytellers charisma made all the more impactful by his raw, unvarnished vocals. Birchwood plays high-octane blues  at once deeply rooted, funky and up-to-the-minute  with true passion and honest emotion. With his band feeding off his drive and exuberance, the striking 63 29-year-old with his trademark Afro roams the stage (often barefoot), ripping out memorable guitar licks with ease. His ability to win over an audience  any audience  is proven night after night on the bandstand. With his warm, magnetic personality, Birchwood is as down-to-earth as his music is fun, thought-provoking and vital. His mission is to spread his music far and wide, to share his joy, to play his heart out, and to push the blues into the future. Theres nothing Id rather be doing than playing the blues, he says. Jeremiah Johnson's superior song writing; backed up by his incredibly sexy voice, and fantastic fret work, demonstrate his three dimensional ability to provide music that virtually anyone can appreciate young or old Rocker Blues Man Jazz Man or Country Sh*t kicker, JJ Grinds out a down Home feel good rhythm that touches Home. JJ works hard every day. He Grinds out an "Honest Forty" for the Man, and still finds time to continuously produce a fantastic resume of titles, and play gigs throughout the week. His music is capable of topping the charts... Jeremiah is a true Rock'n Blues & Roots Man of the highest order. The only thing better than having The Jeremiah Johnson Band spilling out of your speakers, is going out and watching these guys LIVE.
    ~Bob Molinary, St. Charles, MO

Born and grown in St. Louis, Jeremiah spent 10 years seasoning his style on the Gulf Coast of Texas and then came home to lay down some dirty, rockin' blues. Now 5 albums into his music career, he has created a sound all his own. Nobody does blues like the JJB because it's not just blues. There is no genre for this music, you just have to hear it and feel it to understand.

Honors and achievements include being first place finalist of the Houston, Texas Regional Blues Challenge sponsored by The Houston Blues Society in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2011, the were the proud winners of the St. Louis Blues Society IBC Challenge and went on to the semi finals to represent St. Louis in Memphis, Tennessee. Sirius XM's B.B. Kings Bluesville picked up JJB in 2012 where they can still be heard nationwide, as well as on Touch Tunes Jukeboxes in your local bars and clubs and on radio stations across the country, including our very own KDHX 88.1 FM in St. Louis.

There are currently two versions of this band available, a power TRIO and a five piece with sax and trumpet.
The Jeremiah Johnson Trio is a sexy, chill version of the JJB. This version is more song orientated and of course more guitar driven. Tons of tone, bare to the bone!

Then there is Jeremiah Johnson with The Sliders. This is the trio with Jim Rosse on trumpet and Stuart Williams on sax, harmonica and flute. This is a power packed wall of sound that brings Jeremiahs original music to unexpected places. Providing a taste of everything from Honky Tonkin harmonica, old school blues shout choruses, amazing horn solos and even some flute. It is a unique show to say the least.
